100th Anniversary of the Sinking of the RMS Titanic

“Exploring the RMS Titanic– Friday, April 13, 2012, Emory Kristof, National Geographic photographer and explorer, gave a public lecture at Mundelein Auditorium on the Lake Shore Campus. Kristof shared close-up still photos and video of the the Titanic wreckage to an audience of over 250 people. This presentation also marked the inaugural Rosalind and Gregory Terry Lecture sponsored by Loyola alums John and Terese Terry.

“A Night to Remember: An Evening on the Titanic” – A fundraising dinner for Loyola University Libraries was held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the Klarchek Information Commons, Fourth Floor on the Lake Shore Campus. The 85+ guests in attendance enjoyed classical and period music by a string trio, views of Lake Michigan from the Promenade Deck, and a presentation from Dr. Robert Bucholz entitled “Titanic: The Eternal Crossing”.

Both events together raised more than $10,000 to purchase rare books for the University Libraries.
