Everything in frontier life revolved around hunting buffalo. Tribes organized winter and summer hunting trips to the nearby plains where buffalo grazed in order to feed their tribe. “Native Hunting Techniques” show different methods of hunting, from driving buffalo off a cliff to shepherding them into a field. But buffalo hunting was not safe, and Point depicts how close hunters needed to be to take down their prey. Often a buffalo was too strong for one hunter, as “Death of a Buffalo” depicts a single buffalo enduring several bullets and arrows before it was finally brought down.
