Adam Reh began learning about and creating art at 8 years old. Since then, Adam has created thousands of paintings and drawings in watercolors, oils, pencil, and pen and ink. His subject matter has been described as an eclectic, vibrant celebration of life and those we love. Flowers and the human form, skeletons and landscapes, beer bottles and dog portraits– whatever the subject of his work, whether through bold colors, contrast, movement, or repetition, Adam works to find the heart that lies within. He loves the small things, the little moments, the subtle shifts in our senses that trigger memories and dreams, and he wants to stir these within the viewer as well.

Adam’s current work reflects his love and interest in craft beer and homebrewing, and has been featured and shown in multiple craft breweries and beer fests, including Only Child Brewing in Gurnee, IL and Tighthead Brewery in Mundelein, IL. In September 2016, sixteen original oil paintings hung at an 11-month-long show in Lake Bluff Brewing Company in Lake Bluff, IL. In November of 2017, Adam published his first illustrated book as a celebration of homebrewing and craft beer, The Precise and Certain Consort as beneficial to the lathering of inebriants. One of his favorite quotes is from Michelangelo Buonarotti- “The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”

Adam lives and works in the northern suburbs of Chicago. He received his BFA in Art Education from the University of Illinois in 2000, and his MA in School Leadership from Concordia University Chicago in 2007. Adam has taught art in public schools to children in grades K-8 for 18 years. Through the creative process, he encourages personal expression and individual growth in his students.
