Join social historian, Ellen Skerrett for an illustrated slide lecture, as she highlights discoveries she made in researching and writing Loyola’s first published history. Born in Chicago: A History of Chicago’s Jesuit University<\/strong><\/em> reclaims Loyola’s urban roots and explores the evolution of the university from its beginnings in 1870 on the city’s Near West Side. Immediately following her lecture, Ellen Skerrett, will be available to sign her book.\u00a0 A reception will follow.<\/p>\n

She is the co-author of Chicago, City of Neighborhoods <\/strong><\/em>(1986) and Catholicism, Chicago Style<\/strong><\/em> (1993). Ms. Skerrett has been a consultant for the Jane Addams Papers Project, Duke University; project coordinator & associate editor for the University of Illinois at Chicago’s “Urban Experience in Chicago: Hull House and its Neighborhoods<\/a>” website; and the primary scholar advisor for “Catholic Chicago” exhibit at the Chicago History Museum.<\/p>\n
