Join us October 24, Wednesday, at 2:00 pm in Rm 713 at Lewis Library, WTC, for a Loyola Library book discussion on Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, the newest selection for Chicago Public Library’s One Book, One Chicago. The Crucible recounts the Salem, Massachusetts witch trials of 1692, focusing on John Proctor, a farmer falsely accused of witchcraft. Proctor refuses to confess to something of which he is innocent or to falsely accuse others. Written by Arthur Miller as a criticism of the McCarthy hearings during the Communist scare of the 1950’s, The Crucible challenges readers and audiences to explore questions of fear, truth and justice.
The discussion will be led by a Chicago Public Library Reference Librarian and a Loyola alumnus. Refreshments will be served.
