Friends of the Loyola Chicago Libraries will host its inaugural event on Friday, April 16, 2010, from 4 to 6 p.m.in the Donovan Reading Room of Cudahy Memorial Library on the Loyola Lakeshore Campus, 1032 W. Sheridan Road.
The program will feature Thomas Michalak, book collector, librarian, and an alumnus of Loyola University, and Scott Stantis, political cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune. Others making remarks include Loyola President Michael J. Garanzini; Dr. Peter Gilmour, President of the Friends; and Robert Seal, Dean of University Libraries.
The event will also mark the official opening of the exhibit “19th Century British Caricature” featuring rare items from the Michalak Collection of the libraries’
special collections.
A reception will follow the program.
