The BBC began publishing The Listener in 1929 as a weekly means of capturing its broadcasts in print. Contents of The Listener Historical Archive may be searched or simply browsed by contributor or date. Page images are available, with the option to view the entire issue of The Listener in which a selected piece appeared. Jean Seaton, Professor of Media History at The University of Westminster and Official Historian of the BBC, writes of The Listener, “The online archive is a seam of pure gold for researchers, politics, writing, theatre and social observation, but it offers many delights for browsers as well.” For more information, please contact us.
