Welcome to this unusual semester. We wanted to share some information on how you can access library spaces and materials. This is an environment of rapid change and uncertainty, but we are here to work with you to help you succeed. You can ask a librarian your question by chat, get in touch with the librarian who specializes in your subject, or ask a general library question by email.
The book stacks in Cudahy Library and Lewis Library will be closed to everyone but library staff, who will retrieve books upon request for contactless pickup in the Information Commons and Lewis Library. When physical pickup isn’t possible, the library will use a range of alternative methods to deliver books Interlibrary loan will be available for articles and book chapters, but not for any physical materials like books. Course reserves will also be online.
We have been making a few changes to our systems behind the scenes to help with enhancing access to library resources from anywhere. The library catalog upgraded to a new version that shows changes to resources more quickly. There are a few minor changes to the way things work, so ask for help if you are confused. The Loyola account login for your library account is now integrated with other Loyola logins, so if you are already logged in to your email you won’t have to log in again. That same concept applies for many links to articles, streaming media, and databases. We are migrating to a new system for off campus access, which will automatically forward you to resources when you are already logged in. Find more details on the Off-Campus Access page.
We wish you the best for the semester!
