Libraries Improved during Spring Break

While students are away for Spring Break, all three of the Loyola’s Chicago libraries will be improved.

At the Information Commons:

Pepper Construction will be working on all three floors of the Information Commons to address facility concerns and complete construction work. The group study rooms will have ceilings added and paneling will be completed. To facilitate the work, the third floor and all group study rooms will be unavailable during Spring Break. There will be no quiet areas on either the first or second floor. Students who need to use a Group Study room over Spring Break may use the Group Study rooms in Cudahy Library. Room keys can be checked out at the Circulation Desk on the first floor.

The Cafe will be closed during Spring Break and will open when school begins, Monday, March 10.

At Cudahy Library:

Ten of the electrical outlets in the Cudahy Reading Room will be dropped so the outlets are flush to the floor. The remaining power outlets will be removed and the carpet will be repaired. A portion of the Reading Room tables will be moved to the rooms connecting Cudahy Library to the Cafe in order to give it a more uniform look. The water damage on the south side window of the Reading Room will be repaired.

At Lewis Library:

As part of the Lewis Library renovation begun during the winter inter-session, additional computer carrels are being wired and added to the 6th floor. If time allows, power outlets will also be added around the perimeter of the 9th floor archives room, which will allow the room to be used as a quiet study area after construction begins on the 10th and 11th floors this summer.

The libraries staff thanks patrons for their patience as we modify our libraries, and we hope that you enjoy these improvements.
