On November 6, 2025, Jen Dentel from Gerber/Hart Library & Archives brought a selection of historical buttons to highlight Chicago’s LGBTQ+ history. These included buttons from historic gay bars around the city and slogans from different eras of the LGBTQ+ rights movement.

StarRose Keyes-Lebergott from the Loyola Archives and Special Collections as well as Chanelle Davis from the Women and Leadership Archives brought historical buttons from our university collections for students to peruse. After viewing the archival buttons, students also had the opportunity to use the library’s craft supplies to create their own buttons inspired by the displays!

It was so exciting to celebrate and share our space with our wonderful neighbors. Check out the Gerber/Hart Library & Archive at 6500 N Clark Street, Chicago, Illinois 60626 or GerberHart.org.

The Loyola Archives and Special Collections and the Women and Leadership Archives are also open for visitors by appointment. Please contact them at:
