We now have access to the Dictionary of American Regional English (DARE) online. It contains the full panoply of American regional vocabulary, from Adam’s housecat to Zydeco. The digital version offers an interactive, multimedia tool that will provide different ways to discover the regional particulars of American English.

Scholarly metrics are quantitative methods used to judge or rank the research impact of individual journals, individual journal articles, and a researcher’s scholarly impact. The most widely recognized scholarly metrics are based on citation tracking. This workshop provides an overview of commonly used metrics, and strengths and limitations of application of these metrics. Altmetrics will also be discussed. Citation searching allows you to identify references that cite or are cited by other scholarly sources. Discover how citation searching can assist you in your research, and compare results using the Web of Science database and Google Scholar. All classes are approximately 45 minutes and will take place in the Klarchek Information Commons IC120 unless otherwise noted. All classes are free and open to students, staff and faculty.
