Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests: How to Make Them (workshop)

Thursday, April 9th from 1:30pm-2:00pm – Online, via Adobe Connect (please contact the library to receive a link to the meeting)
Sometimes, you want information from the government that isn’t readily available. That’s where the Freedom of Information Act comes in. This workshop will go over the basics of FOIA, how to compose a request, where to send it, and some of the nuances of the law and its use. Attendees at this workshop may also follow up with the Government Information Librarian for assistance after the workshop for individual requests. If you are interested in user experience and design this workshop is for you. We will give a quick overview of design principles, places to discover new design techniques, and ways to evaluate how effective designs are. Just don’t make content, make people want to use it
Presentation Skills (begins at 4:30PM)
Presentations don’t have to be scary or boring (or both). This workshop will introduce you to techniques and resources you can use to develop great presentations and to deliver those presentations with confidence.

This workshop will focus on advanced features of the PsycINFO database, including Multi-Field Searching, establishing a Personal Account to save searches and projects, and creating AutoAlerts to receive regular updates on a research topic.
