Join the Libraries as we celebrate Open Access Week! October 19-25, 2015<\/p>\n

What is Open Access you ask? Learn more from the Libraries’ OA Research Guide<\/a><\/strong> and from the OA Week website<\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n

Open Access Week, a global event now entering its eighth year, is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they\u2019ve learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research.<\/p>\n

\u201cOpen Access\u201d to information \u2013 the free, immediate, online access to the results of scholarly research, and the right to use and re-use those results as you need \u2013 has the power to transform the way research and scientific inquiry are conducted. It has direct and widespread implications for academia, medicine, science, industry, and for society as a whole.<\/em><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/p>\n

Your Writing Rights: Understanding Publication Agreements
\nMONDAY, OCTOBER 19

You put a lot of work into your scholarly writing. Make sure that you have the rights to use it again. This workshop will teach the skills of how to read an author\u2019s agreement in order to understand what rights you are signing to your publisher and how you may reuse your work. You will then learn how to negotiate for additional rights and how to self-archive your work legally.<\/p>\n

This workshop is intended for faculty and graduate students. Light refreshments will be served.
