Proctor refuses to confess to something of which he is innocent or to falsely accuse others.  Written by Arthur Miller as a criticism of the McCarthy hearings during the Communist scare of the 1950&#8217;s, <em>The Crucible<\/em> challenges readers and audiences to explore questions of fear, truth and justice.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cudsyslx.library.luc.edu\/blog\/?attachment_id=15\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15\" title=\"The Crucible\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cudsyslx.library.luc.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/crucible.jpg\" alt=\"The Crucible\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The discussion will be led by a Chicago Public Library Reference Librarian and a Loyola alumnus.
