You can look at past years\u2019 lists\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/category\/staff-picks\/\">here<\/a>\u00a0and stay tuned for more lists!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Disclaimer: every pasta shape was created for a specific sauce\/dish. But I am famously both a picky eater and someone with a good amount of food restrictions, so here are my takes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rotini<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting off with my universal pasta. Rotini, you will always be that girl. It\u2019s the perfect pasta for when I feel like I need a dish with a ton of veggies and want a good \u201cfork balance.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"862\" height=\"562\" class=\"wp-image-17233\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta1.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta1.png 862w, https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta1-300x196.png 300w, https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta1-768x501.png 768w, https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta1-600x391.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 862px) 100vw, 862px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conchiglioni (big shell)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are so beautiful and so easy for making an expensive looking dish out of inexpensive ingredients.          <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"432\" height=\"180\" class=\"wp-image-17242\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta2.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta2.jpg 432w, https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta2-300x125.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Orecchiette<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think it is more successful for the sauces I make when compared to conchiglie (lil shells). I think a lot of home cooks use these interchangeably, but I think that is a mistake that makes people overlook the beauty of orecchiette.         <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"353\" height=\"284\" class=\"wp-image-17241\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta3.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta3.jpg 353w, https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta3-300x241.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 353px) 100vw, 353px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cavatappi<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The superior shape. In my home, if a box of cavatappi\u00a0appears, that means an amazing cheesy dish is on the horizon.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"352\" height=\"180\" class=\"wp-image-17240\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta4.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta4.jpg 352w, https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta4-300x153.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 352px) 100vw, 352px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mafalde<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Okay, I\u2019m not a huge fan of long pastas but mafalde is lovely. The ridges elevate this to be on the list.                 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"247\" height=\"180\" class=\"wp-image-17239\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta5.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Farfalle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It wouldn\u2019t be a pasta list without them. I mean, c&#8217;mon! They&#8217;re lil bows! But for real, we don\u2019t get a lot of novelty foods and farfalle can be used in many dishes without compromising the sauce. It\u2019s a <em>good<\/em> pasta that also happens to be fun.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"615\" height=\"355\" class=\"wp-image-17238\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta6.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta6.png 615w, https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta6-300x173.png 300w, https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta6-600x346.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tagliatelle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite to make, and it looks so beautiful and impressive! This is great for a fast dish alongside a simple sauce.            <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" class=\"wp-image-17237\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta7.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Casarecce<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delightful shape! Delightful bite! Underrated shape. \u00a0    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"169\" height=\"128\" class=\"wp-image-17236\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta8.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Radiatori<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lovely. The shape makes this fun and interesting to eat.        <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"234\" height=\"176\" class=\"wp-image-17235\" style=\"width: 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/libblogs.luc.edu\/noteworthy\/files\/2024\/12\/pasta9.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Agnolotti (or Ravioli)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another favorite to make, especially to share! There is something so lovely about making something beautiful and intensive for another person.
