University Libraries welcomed the Gerber\/Hart Library & Archives to the Information Commons for our event Archives in Action: Button Making with Archivists. <\/em><\/strong>

On November 6, 2025, Jen Dentel from Gerber\/Hart Library & Archives brought a selection of historical buttons to highlight Chicago\u2019s LGBTQ+ history. These included buttons from historic gay bars around the city and slogans from different eras of the LGBTQ+ rights movement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

StarRose Keyes-Lebergott from the Loyola Archives and Special Collections as well as Chanelle Davis from the Women and Leadership Archives brought historical buttons from our university collections for students to peruse. After viewing the archival buttons, students also had the opportunity to use the library’s craft supplies to create their own buttons inspired by the displays! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
