The topic of this event is <em><strong>The 2008 Election:\u00a0The Good, The Bad, and\u00a0The Ugly.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em>Dr. Alan Gitelson, professor of Political Science at Loyola University Chicago, will give a timely overview and analysis of the 2008 elections.\u00a0His\u00a0focus will be\u00a0on\u00a0key aspects of a political campaign including the nomination process, campaign financing, campaign strategy, tactics, polling, and the role of the media in the campaign.\u00a0 There will also be a question and answer period\u00a0during the event.\u00a0 Dr. Gitelson\u00a0is a frequent guest commentator on radio and television for political and election issues, as well as a faculty author.\u00a0 His book, <em>American Government<\/em>, is in its eight edition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Please join us for this thought provoking event on Thursday, October 23rd 2008 at the Crown Center Auditorium located on the Lakeshore Campus, 6525 North Sheridan Road.\u00a0 The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and admission is free.\u00a0 Following the discussion there\u00a0will be a reception.\u00a0 Please RSVP to Carol Franklin at 773-508-2641 or <a href=\"mailto:cfrankl@luc.edu\"><font color=\"#664422\">cfrankl@luc.edu<\/font><\/a>.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0University Libraries will hold its next Library Speaker\u00a0Series event\u00a0on Thursday, October 23rd 2008 at the\u00a0Lakeshore Campus.
