I'm currently writing a book on mediating religious difference and mediatic religiosities in Sri Lanka in a time of heightening of Buddhist-Christian conflicts over proselytism and conversion. The project concerns cosmological and theological concepts of Buddhist continuity and Christian change, focusing on both conflictual and conciliatory efforts by religious leaders and in everyday life. \r\n\r\nResearch Keywords: Buddhism, Christianity (Pentecostalism and Catholicism), nationalism, ethno-religious populism, conversion and evangelism, media and religious publicity, decolonization and conflict, humanitarianism, charity, dana, religion and the political economy, religious innovation, postwar Sri Lanka.\r\n\r\nI teach courses on Religion & the Media Turn, Christianities in Cross Cultural Perspective, Anthropology of Violence, Intro to Anthropology, and Modern Social Thought. I would love to prepare myself to teach a class on Buddhism in Asia (or more specifically, a course on Buddhism in War and in Peace, or on Buddhist-Christian entanglements in Asia (e.g. through decolonization and the so-called 'Cold' War).\r\n\r\nMy published work appears in Current Anthropology, the Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Religion and Society, and Hau Journal of Ethnographic Theory.
