I’ve tried all my life very hard
not to cheat it wasn’t easy I
wasn’t entirely successful

and here comes this child
angelic charm and cunning smile
his hand on a discarded
card he needs asking could I
just not constantly watch him

and I imagine his ha-ha-ha
triumph as he wins with the card
and I want to ask someone
anyone what is the point
of being alive
