These images present a personal perspective of a particular place at a particular moment in time: Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo during its Festival of Lights. They are created by tuning out all other distractions and concentrating only on the light source itself in relation to movement. The result is a glimpse of reality that one experiences but could never distinguish without the camera’s eye. These images are exactly as they were captured by the camera–no digital manipulation was used in their creation or their presentation.

Anthony Zahner is the principal of Anthony Zahner Design. He has worked for 15 years as an architectural designer and artist in Chicago, San Francisco, and Rome. Anthony’s art, photography and paintings emphasize the instant and immediate–rather than relying upon elaborate sets, digital manipulation, or enhanced staging, he directly engages the light, color, and form of his surroundings to create compelling images that both rise above and represent their context.
