Title of your position: Interlibrary Loan Librarian
What is your educational background?
I have a B.A. in art history from Columbia University and a M.S. in library science from the University of Illinois.
What do you like about working in libraries?
I learn something new every day. Did you know that there are people trying to cross-breed chickens and turkeys? Helping people with their research can be really eye opening.
How long have you been at Loyola and what do you like best about working here?
I have been working at Loyola since September 2008. I love working in such a diverse environment, and I appreciate the emphasis on service.
What interests do you have outside of work?
Books, movies, contemporary art, theater, food. I’m a bit obsessed with my two cats, my bulldog, and animals in general.
Where have you traveled?
Lots of places in the U.S., including Alaska during the winter solstice. I studied in Italy and have visited France, Spain, and England. I’m making plans to go to Turkey this spring.
What books have you read recently that you would recommend?
Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann. I would say that it’s one of the best books I have ever read. It’s not very plot-driven, but the thread that holds it together is about the man who walked a tightrope between the World Trade Center towers in 1974. Seeing the documentary Man on Wire definitely enhanced my reading experience.
