Workshop: Accessing and Using Social Science Datasets

This session will introduce users to two of the leading depositories of Social Science research data, the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) and the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research.

ICPSR is an international consortium of over 700 academic institutions and research organizations that maintains a data archive of more than 500,000 searchable files of research in the social sciences. The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research is one of the world’s leading archives of social science data, specializing in data from surveys of public opinion. They maintain the world’s largest archive of survey data that dates back to the 1930’s. Whether you’re interested in analyzing social trends, finding answers to individual questions, or conducting more detailed secondary analysis you will find these two resources invaluable to your research.
