No Impact Man at Your Library

Have you heard? No Impact Man is Loyola University’s 2011 first-year text! And guess where you can find copies of both the book and the movie? That’s right–THE LIBRARY!

No Impact Man is an engaging look at one man’s decision to put his money where his mouth is and go off the grid for one year–while still living in New York City–to see if it’s possible to make no net impact on the environment. In other words, no trash, no toxins in the water, no elevators, no subway, no products in packaging, no air-conditioning, no television. Can he do it? Could YOU do it?

Imagine if you attempted to live off the grid for a year. Where would you even start? Well, why not check your carbon footprint for ideas?

Small changes add up to a big global impact. Keep an eye on programming at our (very sustainable) Klarchek Information Commons throughout the semester for ways in which you can reduce your impact on the planet.
