Daguerreotype, 1856, from ARTstor
This month marks the 150th anniversary of Henry David Thoreau’s death. As philosopher, theologian, poet, environmentalist, and teacher, Thoreau has much to teach us about living abundantly while seeking simplicity. American National Biography Online* provides an excellent overview of Thoreau’s life. Our collections hold recent editions of Thoreau’s writings as well as scholarship about him.
