University Libraries Privacy Policy

It seems like nearly every day there’s a new report of a data breach or hack. We’re all familiar with the instant panic that sets in: “When is the last time I used that product or service?” “What’s my password for that?” “Did I shop there?” Even if it’s not a hack it seems that misuse of our private data is always in the news. At the Loyola University Chicago Libraries we’re striving to limit the amount of data we collect from you so your information can be better protected.

Protecting the privacy of our users is one of the core values of the Loyola University Chicago Libraries. This has always been true, but now for the first time we have a written policy available on our website that outlines our commitment to privacy, details the information we collect and how it is used, and tells you how to get access to the information we have about you.

Over the next year, we will be addressing a number of practices we uncovered when developing this policy that do not align with best practices created by the American Library Association, and so we will be updating this policy as our practices change and as technology changes.

If you have any questions or comments about the new policy, please feel free to email libraries@luc.edu or leave a comment.
