Cudahy Library & Lewis Stacks Reopen on August 9!

The University Libraries is happy to announce the reopening of Cudahy Library and Lewis Stacks on Monday, August 9.

All users will access Cudahy through the Information Commons, and all floors and book stacks will be accessible, with the exception of Cudahy’s Lower Level.  Due to flooding earlier in the summer, the Lower Level and the periodicals housed there will remain off-limits until Facilities deems the area safe. Cudahy will be open Monday – Friday 9 am to 5 pm. Fall 2021 hours will be released at a later date.

Lewis Library stacks also will be accessible starting Monday, August 9.  However, Lewis Library will be closed to all library users the week of August 16 – 20, to prepare library spaces for the new school year.

With the reopening of our spaces and stacks, contactless pickup service will be discontinued on Friday, August 6.  Beginning Monday, August 9, library users will be able to check out books from the stacks, place holds for pick at Cudahy, the IC, and Lewis Library, and pick up ILL requests as they have in the past.

Also because of reopening, the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service will end sometime in August, the exact date to be determined. This service is meant to provide access to books only while access to our own collection is severely limited.  Books that are in the public domain will continue to be available through our HathiTrust membership.

Physical course reserves will resume for the fall semester. We anticipate significant demand for this service, so please submit your reserve requests using this form as soon as possible. We will continue to scan physical articles and book chapters to send to faculty.
