Updates on Streaming Video for Classes

Dear Colleagues,

The library is working to provide enhanced access to streaming media content for online courses. We have resumed unmediated access to the Kanopy database of streaming video for the rest of the semester. This means that all faculty and students have immediate access to the titles available in Kanopy. We encourage you to focus on curriculum-related use of Kanopy, as it consumes a large portion of the library budget, but we realize the importance of making this resource available in order to keep courses running as smoothly as possible.

In addition, faculty who need access to popular Hollywood films for their courses can request access to titles from Swank streaming media. You should search the Kanopy database first for all movies that you need, then search the Swank catalog for access. All Swank requests should be sent to James Conley, Media Services Librarian, at jconley1@luc.edu. Please plan on at least 48 hours for these titles to be made available after your request is placed. If there are films you need that are not available in either collection, please contact James with your request.
