FYI: Phishing scam targeting universities/libraries

Spammers are targeting universities and libraries with emails that look like they come from a library department asking you to log in to your account. The link in the email will take you to a non-Loyola server and anything you type in will be harvested by the spammers. We are aware of one such attempt made on the ILLiad (Interlibrary Loan) site, and our catalog vendor has also let us know spammers have targeted library catalogs as well.

To keep your personal information safe, remember the following:

• Staff will never ask for your password over email. You should use the Personal Account Manager or contact the help desk if you need to reset your password.

• When in doubt, always visit libraries.LUC.edu directly or navigate to the page from LUC.edu before typing in your username and password.

• Call the library at 773-508-2632 if you receive an email asking you to confirm your account and forward the email to helpdesk@luc.edu.
