The University Libraries, along with the Loyola community, mourns the passing of alumnus, comedy legend, and actor, Bob Newhart (BS ’52), who died on July 18, 2024. We honor and remember his life and contributions to Loyola through our collections.
- Our archivists from the Loyola Archives & Special Collections created a digital library that includes photographs of Mr. Newhart at Loyola events such as the 1960 Loyola Fair, 1975 Annual Awards Dinner where he received the Sword of Loyola, the 25th reunion for the Class of 1952, and the 2001 Commencement Ceremony where he received an honorary degree. His remarks and the citation given at the awards dinner can also be viewed here.
- Mr. Newhart’s book, I Shouldn’t Even Be Doing This!, is part of the Alumni Authors Collection which is available for loan from the Cudahy Library and Lewis Library.
